The Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine
The School, an international centre of excellence in research, higher education, consultancy and training in tropical diseases, invites applications for nominations to its Board of Trustees.
Founded in 1898, as a limited company and registered charity affiliated to the University of Liverpool, the School recently modernised its governance structures, resulting in a board of 15 trustees. The nominations will fill cyclical rotating vacancies within this new board.
Supporting major research projects in developing countries where malaria, HIV/Aids, TB and lymphatic filariasis are endemic, the School is just as relevant in the UK, working closely with the local health trusts, providing a diagnostic and travel clinic and taking a leading role in local infectious diseases. Currently 250 staff are employed (projected numbers will double within the next 4 years) with over 500 students from more than 65 countries, learning and living together in a unique, family environment.
The School is rapidly expanding with the construction of a £26m state-of-the-art research facility, adjacent to the current site, due to be completed in December 2007.
If you are interested and able to demonstrate a commitment to the School and its values and a willingness to devote the necessary time and effort, have strategic vision, good independent judgement and the ability to work effectively as a member of a team whilest being able to speak your mind, please apply to:
